چکیده

Biosurfactants are surface-active biomolecules produced by microorganisms that have different applications in solving many environmental problems. This study was carried out to screen biosurfactant-producing bacteria isolated from hydrocarbon-contaminated soil of Kano Metropolis, State- Nigeria. Soil samples were collected and processed. Biosurfactant-producing enumerated, characterized using cultural, morphological biochemical characteristics. Blood haemolysis, oil drop collapse displacement tests employed for the screening bacterial isolates potential produce biosurfactant. The viable aerobic heterotrophic count ranges 1.0 8.4×106 cfu/g. Eight genera biochemically identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloacae, Pantoea agglomerans, sp., Bacillus subtilis, alvei, sp. Klebsiella subtilis had highest frequency occurrence 5(27%) while alvei least occurrences 1(6%) each. eight all positive haemolysis test, test.

Diversity of Biosurfactant-producing Streptomyces Isolates from Hydrocarbon-contaminated Soil

Actinomycetes are unsurpassed as producers of bioactive metabolites, primarily those with antimicrobial/anticancer properties; however, their capacity for producing other natural products such as biosurfactants, has been less explored. Biosurfactants are heterogeneous surface active compounds and can be potentially deployed for bioremediation of hydrocarbons and as emulsifying agents in agricul...

Isolation and screening of biosurfactant producing microorganisms from oil contaminated soil

Isolation and screening of microorganisms from oil contaminated soil samples with biosurfactant producing ability was investigated. The biosurfactant producing ability of the microorganisms isolated from the soil samples was investigated by hemolytic assay, drop collapse test, emulsification index and methylene blue agar plate method. The best isolate was identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa ba...

Selection of Biosurfactan/Bioemulsifier-Producing Bacteria From Hydrocarbon-Contaminated Soil

Petroleum-derived hydrocarbons are among the most persistent soil contaminants, and some hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms can produce biosurfactants to increase bioavailability and degradation. The aim of this work was to identify biosurfactant-producing bacterial strains isolated from hydrocarbon-contaminated sites, and to evaluate their biosurfactant properties. The drop-collapse method a...

Isolation of antibacterial material-producing bacteria from saline soil

Saline soils are widely spread in Iran. These intact soils are a great source for the isolation of new bacteria with highly functional metabolites in biotechnology. Actinomycete strains were isolated on starch casein agar and ISP2 with different concentrations of sodium chloride (0, 5 and 10%) from treated soil samples. Pure colonies were cultured on a casein glycerol medium. After complete gro...

Isolation, Identification and Evaluation of Oil Hydrocarbon Decomposing Bacteria from Contaminated Areas of Oil Fields

Microbialbiodegradation is known as an effective and harmless method to overcome environmental pollution with oil hydrocarbon. Some bacterial species were isolated from the Sarvestan oilfields (Iran, Fars province), then identified and applied for oil hydrocarbon decomposition. A carbon-free minimum medium (CFMM) containing 1% crude oil was used to isolate bacteria through incubation at 30°C in...
